The project "Sustainable Energy" No. CZ.01.1.02/0.0/0.0/15_037/0007141 was implemented from 4.11.2016 to 30.4.2019 and was financially supported by the European Union under the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness, Cooperation - Technology Platforms - 1st Call
The project addressed the issue of technological foresight in a 20-year time horizon on industrial and societal challenges in the energy sector related to the development of society and the energy industry in the Czech Republic. The project supported the activities of TPUE members in ETPs and similar entities at EU level and contributed to greater awareness and mobilisation of TPUE members for participation in European research programmes (especially Horizon 2020) and territorial cooperation programmes.
The first objective of the project was to develop a structured view of an alternative future in the form of a balanced document "Technological Foresight and Industrial Challenges in the Energy Sector in the Czech Republic", which presents a consensus view of the most important actors in the Czech Republic in the field of energy R&D and energy industry on the development of energy technologies from the perspective of industrial and societal challenges related to the development of society and the energy industry in the Czech Republic.
The second objective of the project was to support the activities of TPUE members who are members of (often important) European technology platforms and similar entities at European and international level and to use these activities as an important source of information for orientation in the European Commission's intentions in the field of energy technology development, for the preparation of technology foresight. These activities have also enabled TPUE to further participate in the support of national authorities in the framework of the Integrated Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan) of the European Commission.
The third objective of the project was to increase the awareness of TPUE members about the possibilities and conditions of participation in European research programmes (especially Horizon 2020) and territorial cooperation programmes.
This project has significantly enabled TPUE as a representative of leading industrial entities, research organizations and technical universities to continue to effectively facilitate communication and cooperation between interested manufacturers, operators and research institutes that intend to participate in the implementation of structural and technological changes in the energy sector in both the Czech and EU economy.
